KETAMINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY (KAP)

Talk therapy has been an excellent–sometimes life-saving–process for many struggling with mental health.

But for others, no matter how long they spend in therapy, they struggle to find relief for their symptoms. In those cases, nontraditional therapy tools might be more effective—tools like Ketamine.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an innovative, evidence-based approach to mental health and emotional well-being. By combining the therapeutic potential of ketamine with the guidance of psychotherapy, KAP offers a unique opportunity to access deeper layers of healing, insight, and transformation.

Ketamine has a number of properties that make it useful in the medical field.

Let’s face it—our minds can be daunting at times. Unpleasant thoughts, painful memories, or deeply ingrained beliefs about ourselves and the world are not always easy to face, let alone sit with long enough to work through.

Our brains are wired to protect us, which often means these difficult experiences are pushed out of reach, leaving us to deal with the lingering effects. Ketamine, however, allows the mind and body to enter a gently dissociative state, temporarily interrupting habitual thought patterns. This shift creates space for insight, self-reflection, and the discovery of new ways to think, feel, and live.

Ketamine Dosing Session
Dosing sessions can take place in my Berkeley, California office or virtually if you reside in California. Together, we will create a personalized music playlist to support your ketamine journey. Ketamine is administered as individually prescribed lozenges that you place under your tongue.

I will be present throughout your session to support you in entering a gentle, slightly dissociative state where your mind and body can relax. My focus is on your comfort and well-being, and I am available to provide any guidance or support you may need.

Sessions last approximately three hours and include:

  1. Setting intentions, getting comfortable, and answering any questions.
  2. Administering the ketamine lozenges which initiate Ketamine Journey
  3. Reflection and processing time after the journey

If you choose to attend in person, please arrange for a ride to and from my office.

Integration Sessions
After your dosing session, we will have 2–3 integration sessions to explore and make meaning of the insights gained, and to support incorporating them into your daily life. While ketamine alone may provide relief, combining it with psychotherapy enhances integration and supports lasting change.

During these sessions, we will also discuss potential next steps, which may include additional psychotherapy sessions or future ketamine dosing sessions as appropriate.

Some things to consider

KAP can provide an opportunity for those who have struggled with other treatments it can help facilitate

Rapid Relief: Many clients notice shifts in mood and perspective within hours to days.

Deepened Self-Understanding: Access to subconscious and imaginal realms that are not always reachable in standard talk therapy.

Compassionate Care: A supportive, nonjudgmental environment to explore your inner world.

Holistic Healing: Focuses on mind, body, and spirit, allowing profound insight and renewal.

Research is, of course, still ongoing for KAP.. While this doesn’t mean KAP is a guarantee, but many have found that the experience of KAP led to therapeutic breakthroughs at an exponentially faster rate than traditional talk therapy
